This year was my first take at a Yearly Theme. Looking ahead I realized that this was going to be a huge year of personal way points. In the course of theme, I…

  • Completed my Master’s Degree (End of 2018)

  • Started my first full time job (Start of year)

  • Bought my first house (Spring)

  • Got Married (Fall)

With everything aligning to ‘rip off the bandaid’ of big early adult life in one year, I knew I needed some intentional thought to direct my trajectory.

The ‘Year of Establishing Adulthood’ was a focus on calling it like it was and acting like an adult. I took the opportunity of fresh starts to establish myself as I wanted to be and be known. I used this mentality to review each new decision with the lens of “how do I want to establish myself here?”. I could then make choices that were independent of my previous habits and craft a life that was, not drastically dissimilar but, completely aligned with the type of person that I wanted to be.
